Experience Prof. Om Kumar Harsh brings over five decades of distinguished academic experience as an educator, researcher, industry specialist, and institution builder. Of these, more than 25 years were spent abroad, contributing to higher education and research across Australia, the UAE, Oman, Malaysia, and the UK.

Recent Career Prof. Harsh currently serves as Honorary Pro-Chancellor (Additional) of Glocal University and International Academic & Research Advisor at Brit College, London.

Prof. Om Kumar Harsh has held several distinguished leadership positions in higher education, serving as Vice-Chancellor of Tantia University, Director of Hindustan College of Science and Technology, Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of Glocal University, and Group Director of Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology.

An Indian Australian educator and scientist, Prof. Harsh is widely recognized for his leadership in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary domains within higher education, research, and innovation. He holds four research degrees spanning Computer Science, Physics, and Engineering, and is a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of New England (UNE). He has played a pivotal role in advancing skill development initiatives (Australian Skill Education) and establishing research programs at several universities.

In 2012, Professor Harsh received the “Rashtriya Gaurav Award” from the India International Friendship Society, the “Most Promising College Award,” and several community recognitions and felicitations for his academic contributions and achievements. He was conferred the first Doctor of Science degree in Physics by Kanpur University in 1990, in a convocation presided over by the former President and then sitting Vice-President of India, Dr. K. R. Narayanan. In 2018, he was also honored with the Best Engineering (North India) University Award by the Vice-President of India for shaping the Glocal University. Based on his distinguished global multidisciplinary achievements, the University of New England, Australia, presented him the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018, while Brazil’s Rio International Council granted him Associate Membership for his investigative research in Knowledge and Software Reuse. Early in his research career, he received prestigious Fellowships from the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), India, for his Doctoral and Post-doctoral work. In Australia, the University of New South Wales and the University of New England conferred research-oriented awards on him. He serves on the editorial boards of numerous research periodicals and societies. He has been a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, the Indian Society of Atomic and Molecular Physics, and the Indian Science Congress Association, along with several national and international advisory bodies. Professor Harsh has delivered many keynote addresses at major conferences. He has visited numerous countries, engaging with leading scientists and institutions. Dr. Harsh has facilitated 24 MoUs supporting global science-industry collaboration. He currently resides in Adelaide, Australia, and is associated with several international organizations.

Earlier Career Prof. Om Kumar Harsh began his academic journey as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at Lucknow University and Banaras Hindu University before joining Kanpur University (FG College) as a faculty member in Physics. He collaborated with Prof. B. K. Agarwal, Head of Department at Allahabad University, during which period he completed significant research that culminated in the award of the D.Sc. degree. He later advanced his career internationally, serving in academic and research roles at leading institutions including the University of New South Wales, Charles Sturt University, Monash University in Malaysia, and the University of South Australia. His leadership extended to Dubai, where he was Professor and Dean of Computer Science at American Champlain College, and to Oman, where he held senior positions at Mazoon College and Al-Bruaimi College. Returning to India, he became Director of Hindustan College of Engineering and Technology in Mathura and subsequently became Group Director of Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology. He later assumed top leadership roles as Vice-Chancellor of Tantia University and Glocal University, as well as Pro-Chancellor (Additional) at Glocal University.

Mentorship & LegacyProf. Harsh has successfully supervised over 75 Ph.D. and master’s research scholars, leaving a lasting impact on academic mentorship and institutional development.
